Brief CV

 

I received the B.S. degree in automation from Wuhan Institute of Technology, Wuhan, China, in 2003, and the M.S. degree in pattern recognition and intelligent systems and the Ph.D. degree in control science and engineering from Central South University (CSU), Changsha, China, in 2006 and 2011, respectively. I joined the School of Information Science and Engineering, CSU, in 2006 and currently I am an Associate Professor.

 

Research Interests

I have a wide range of research interests related to computational intelligence, including:
1) Theory: how and why evolutionary algorithms work on optimization problems.
2) Algorithm design: evolutionary algorithms for different kinds of optimization problems, such as single-objective optimization problems, constrained optimization problems, multiobjective optimization problems, nonlinear equation systems, and multimodal optimization problems.
3) Application: computational intelligence for chemometrics, automotive lightweight design, wind farm layout, intelligent robots and systems, cloud computing, medical big data, etc.

We have developed a software (called ECoFFeS) for feature selection using single/multi-objective evolutionary algorithms in bioinformatics and cheminformatics. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

An interesting finding in this paper: the restrained condition that the solutions selected for mutation should have mutually different indices can be relaxed for some classical DE versions and some state-of-the-art DE variants. Moreover, we guess that relaxing the restrained condition is useful for large-scale optimization, since under this condition a very large population size is usually adopted due to the high-dimensional search space.
